Corns - Not on the Cob!

What is it?

Does it feel as though you have a small rock in your shoe?

Are you experiencing concentrated pain on a pressure point in your foot, such as the ball of your foot or in between your toes when you stand?

Can you see a little discoloured circle or bump of hard skin where you’re experiencing the pain?

If so, there’s a good chance that you may have a corn!

A what?

Corns can be extremely painful and if you’ve ever had one, you’ll know that they can really affect your daily activities, especially if you spend a lot of time on your feet.

So what are they? It’s simple. Hard skin often develops on bony areas, or areas of your foot that experience a lot of friction or excessive load or pressure. Sometimes the fat pad (or cushion) underneath the ball of the foot can naturally become thinner which means you have less protection when there is increased pressure.

How do you get corns?

Tight shoes can cause hard skin to build up. Where that skin builds up, pressure from standing and walking can form a corn. That hardened skin applies concentrated pressure to the tissue below the skin, much like standing on a small stone would, and this is what causes pain.

What can I do?

I’m sure you’d love to be able to move around without it hurting!

While tempting to use a corn pad from the supermarket or pharmacy, don't do it! Corn pads are dangerous because they have acid in them. The acid will eat away at whatever skin it comes into contact with - even healthy skin. We have seen several nasty ulcers as a result.

We have the solution! Let’s book you in to see what’s causing you discomfort! We’ll assess your feet, and determine if you have a corn, and if so, we will remove it immediately. Plain and simple, quick and easy, pain free! In 20 minutes we’ll have you out the door, good as new! No delayed gratification here!

It’s kind of like a makeover for your foot. Seriously. They’ll look amazing once we’re done with them!

We’ll also do what we can to prevent them from coming back! For example, if the corns are in between your toes, we will custom-make a little device to wear in your shoes to prevent the corn-causing friction.

Let’s get you back on your feet!
